PDF SHEET MUSIC & PHOTOS

Practise piano
from the page you have.

Bring a PDF, scan or clear photo of piano notation into Stavewise. The music reader finds the notes; you review them before following the piece on a 3D piano.

The demo uses Bach’s public-domain Invention No. 8. Your own uploads require membership with a 7-day free trial for new members, then $10 USD/month.

From PDF to a practice session.

01 · IMPORT

Open your score

In the studio, choose Open sheet music and select a PDF or supported image. Hosted uploads can be up to 4 MB. Keep the tab open while the music reader processes the pages.

02 · REVIEW

Check what was read

Compare the recognised notes with your original. Review notes lets you change pitch, timing, duration and hand, or add and remove notes before practising.

03 · PRACTISE

Work through a short section

Listen to the notes, choose a hand and slow the tempo. Follow along continuously, use Wait for me, or rehearse a short phrase with a count-in.

Give the reader a clear starting point.

A straight, high-resolution page with complete staves is easier to read than a blurred or cropped photograph. Use an evenly lit image, keep the page flat and check that symbols near the edges are visible. PDFs with several pages can take a few minutes.

Optical music recognition can misread pitches, rhythms and hand assignments. Reviewing the result is part of this workflow. If you have a MusicXML version of the same piece, importing that notation directly avoids scan recognition.

Before you upload.

Which files can I use?

Stavewise accepts PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF and TIFF, as well as MusicXML, XML and compressed MXL notation. The online upload limit is 4 MB per file. Use piano notation that you are entitled to upload and process.

Does the PDF become a playable score?

The reader produces a practice score containing the notes it recognises. You can listen, correct that score and export MusicXML. Complex engraving, repeat signs and other notation may not translate into the practice timeline exactly; written measures currently play once.

Where is my score processed and saved?

Online uploads are processed on the Stavewise server. Successful imports save to your private account library so you can reopen them later. Microphone audio is analysed in your browser and is not saved.

Can I test the app without uploading?

Yes. The free demo opens Bach’s Invention No. 8 without an account. Importing your own PDF requires an active membership.
